How to book an appointment

If you need to see one of our clinical team it is usually best to call us or contact us online. All consultations are by appointment and our aim is to provide the right care at the right time, with the right person. We usually allow 15 minutes per face to face appointment (10 minutes per telephone appointment), but if you need more time please ask for a double appointment.

We have a multi-skilled clinical team - more than just GPs

If you need to see or speak to one of our clinical team it is usually best to call us or contact us online. All consultations are by appointment and our aim is to provide the right care at the right time, with the right person.

We have an experienced team working with our doctors and nurses who may be able to help you better and more quickly than a GP. We want to ensure you get the best possible care from the most appropriate person.

Our reception team will help guide you and may offer an appointment with a physiotherapist, clinical pharmacist, MIND worker (for adults and children age 7+) or mental health nurse. Wider support services are also available and may not need a booked appointment.

Information:

If more than one member of the family needs to be seen please ask for a separate appointment for each. You are not restricted to the doctor with whom you are registered and for non-urgent appointments you may see whom you wish.

However, we would suggest that it is best to try and see the same doctor each time for the same problem so as to enable appropriate continuity of care. Routine appointments are usually available within 2 weeks.

Urgent appointments

If you have an urgent problem you will be asked for some details and the urgent care staff will then ring you back as soon as possible (usually within an hour). You may be asked to come down straight away, or you may be offered an appointment the same day with whichever doctor is available, or your problem may be one that can be managed on the telephone. We work closely with other practices in the area and you may be recommended to see a clinician elsewhere within our Primary Care Network (PCN) or an Urgent Care Centre.

Telephone consultations

To talk to a doctor or nurse about a non-urgent problem, please ring the surgery and ask for a telephone appointment. These are usually 10 minutes long. We will ask you to try and speak to the doctor or nurse you usually talk to to help continuity of care. This is particularly important for results of investigations – please wait until the day your usual doctor is working rather than asking to speak to the “urgent care” doctor. Please give a number where you can be certain to answer when we call back.

Primary care visiting service

The Primary Care Visiting Service (PCVS) is made up of a team of emergency care clinicians who will work closely with GP practices to provide urgent same day home visits to house bound patients. The aim is to provide visits earlier in the day than the GP may be able to arrange to allow earlier support for patients. This should give GPs additional time to see their chronic routine, more complex patients.

Weekend and evening appointments

In association with our neighbouring practices we are able to offer additional weekend and evening appointments.

The additional weekend and evening appointments are known as “Enhanced Access appointments” and are an extension to our core hours appointments.
